Assignment 1 : Event Poster, Presentation 2: Animation

PRESENTATION 2: ANIMATION

Research

Presentation

Feedback

  • History of animation: Do not show a website to explain something, it is better to take the information and content then make our own slide
  • Should elaborate more about 2D animation, different types of 2D animation, and it is not always a vector based, it could be drawn as well
  • The whole presentation is disjointed, however, overall information is there
  • Try not to do an online presentation
  • Should have explained both 2D and 3D animation process because both have different steps
  • For the influence part, should have elaborated the points one by one and give an example
  • Do not show the audience a long video, it'll take a lot of time and the audience will lose interest, just cut the important part and get to the point.

ASSIGNMENT 1

Fig 1.1 Poster After Feedback
Feedback
I showed the progression of my poster to Mr. Mike. I completely changed my design but I still use the layout that I used before. Mr. Mike liked the new look of the poster. However, he gave me feedback for me to improve. First, because I used a collage technique, I put planets on my poster, one of them was placed near the title and it was too big so Mr. Mike told me to make it smaller and move it aside a bit. Then, he wanted me to shift the cloud away because it was blocking the artist's head and it looked like an accessory for the artist's hair. Furthermore, I needed to make more contrast of the background, middle ground, and foreground and change the saturation. Lastly, he told me to try playing with colors with the title and give the sponsors list at the bottom of the poster to make it look more real.

ASSIGNMENT 2A

After explaining the more about the assignment 2A. Mr. Mike wanted us to ro little research about microsite and search for examples. Moreover, he wanted us to share our ideas about our chosen topic/event poster from the last session.

From our findings, a microsite is a website that focuses on a specific product or service so as to maximize the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and therefore be found more easily by the search engines. The aim of making microsite is to communicate with the audience a single, compelling message and engage them to take an action (buying stuff, join the forum, follow their social media, etc.).

Example of microsites:

Fig 2.1 Firewatch (game) Microsite

Fig 2.2 The Gardens Between (games) Microsite

After explaining to Mr. Mike about microsite, we began to share our ideas for the chosen poster which was Wynne's game poster: RIFT.

Erin and Jonah went in together but they end up in separate places. The player will have to solve different kinds of mysteries in this other dimension she got into and help Erin to get back with her brother.

REFLECTION

Experience
From this week I managed to finish my event poster and attempted to finish my design proposal. I was really looking forward to finish my first assignment so that I could focus on another group project and my other module. Moreover, I was too focused on the presentation overall look and forgot about the content, then I got overwhelmed by it and made it more complicated and the overall look ended up looking disjointed. I was disappointed at first, but then I tried to do better for the next presentation.

Observation
This week I observed more about how to do a proper presentation. Although we already got advice from last week, we were still repeating the same mistake. It was all because of miss communication between my groupmates. I also observed my working style, because I was procrastinating a lot I tended to do less work on a holiday well actually I could do more and focus more on the presentation as well.

Findings
When it comes to the presentation I always want to make an interesting one but sometimes I overthink about that and end up not giving much information that I need. Moreover, I am still trying to improve my presentation skills because I got nervous easily when I'm not prepared enough.
