Description
Based on Project 3, you are to create a brand identity which is reflective of your brand.
Firstly, you are to design a Brand Identity Guideline for the use of your brand logo and its application. This may be in a form of a book, booklet, poster, etc. – think creatively and consider how this adds to your brand ideal/story. Additionally, you are to design the brands’ corporate identity in the form of a stationery package that must include the basic correspondences (additional ideas are welcomed). Next, design at least one application for your brand (again, more is welcomed). Last but not least, you will also need to produce an introduction video for your brand story.

FEEDBACK

Week 7
Stationary: For name card, mayhaps I need to consider other information like address, phone number, web address included. After all, this is a brand for a health food restaurant. Start illustrating the pattern. Look into typesetting the information. Reminder to document all the explorations. Continue with sketches on letterhead and envelope.

Layout: Good that I have started preparing the content for the brand book (dos and don'ts), continue with other parts of the brand book. Layout stops at photography but I'll also be required to layout my stationary, so I can also plan the layouts for those pages. The dimension for my pages look squarish. Try making a mockup of a double page spread so that I'll be able to see the dimension of the brand book. As per stationary, start text formatting for brand book so that I can find the right type combination.

Logo: Try out other ways to distribute the brand colour. Ie. 8 letters and four colours, alternate them consistently. Figure out the secondary colour for the logo ie. When there is no colour whould the different colours be represented by different shades of black or remain one colour? Refine the letter spacing especially noted ftom 'h' to 'a' as well as 'e' between 'l' and 's'.

Week 8
Stationary: Name card, the sketches were acceptable. The idea of using repetitive illustrations was good. Start to do the illustration and digitize the design. For letterhead, I made several sketches, Ms Lilian told me to proceed to digital work. For the envelope, I made 3 sketches and Ms Lilian told me that 2 of them didn't reflect the brand identity.

Brandbook: It's nice that I had already know what is the measurement of my brandbook. Ms. Lilian told me to digitize the brand book.

Menu: I have made several layout and sketches for the menu. Ms Lilian told me to go with the 3-spread-menu (different sizes) with a clip.

Week 9
Stationary: Name card, the illustrations were too big. I needed to make it smaller and for the back of the name card, erase the illustration then instead just put the information only. For letterhead, after I printed it out, the body text was too big and the layout was not working so I needed to come up with another idea. For the envelope, I also needed to change the design because it didn't work and it didn't reflect the brand identity that well.

Brandbook: Make sure the brand book have the same layout alignment for each page. Make the colour page divided into 2 (secondary and primary), do the same for other components.

Menu: I needed to come up with another layout because the half logo on the top of the menu did not reflect the brand. I also needed to change the point size of the text because it was too big

Week 10
Stationary: Name card, the design was already accepted by Ms Lilian, however there were some little mistakes for the text and point size that need to be fixed. I made new options for the letterhead and Ms. Lilian told me to go with the one with the illustration around the text, but I needed to fix some layout problems (for the information).

Brandbook: I need to change the previous logo which has orange colour on it because Ms Lilian told me to use only four colours instead of five on the previous week.

Menu: I needed to fix some layout problems, the layout chosen was the one similar with the letterhead design layout. I have it all printed out and Ms Lilian was concerned about the size of the menu. She told me to figure out the best solution for the size without changing the layout.

Week 11
Stationary: I have my name card printed out. The colours were nice, but Ms Lilian told me to be careful for the cutting.

Brandbook: I have my brandbook printed out with colour. The colour turned out pretty well. However there were some mistakes with the layout and alignment.

Menu: I have my menu printed out and I managed to bring the clip and the broad. The problem was, the "menu" sign and the halesome logo couldn't be seen. Thus, Ms Lilian told me to figure out and fix that problem. I managed to change the size of the menu and give some space for the clip.

Brand Story: I showed my story board to Ms Lilian, the idea was great I just needed to execute it.

Week 12

Brand Story: I was having trouble using Adobe After Effects, and came up with the draft and showed to Ms Lilian. She told me to use any platform that's easy to use and told me to learn how to use After Effects. She also told me to do a simple, bold, and strong introduction GIF for my brand story.

REFLECTION

Experience
I really enjoyed doing this project because I've been wanting to create my own brand. It felt like I needed to be professional when designing a brand and creating a brand identity. The most exciting part was when I had to have my design printed and actually see my own design. However, I had some problems when deciding which layout or design should I go with and sometimes I forgot to maintain the brand ideals for my own brand. As our lecturer, Ms. Lilian always gave me a lot of feedback and it really helped me to improve my work. She was always pushed me to work harder and think about every aspect of the brand that I was working on.

Observation
I observed that it is not that simple to actually make a brand especially a brand with a great meaning and ideals. I also realized that we need to maintain the consistency while designing any stationaries or applications for a brand. Research must be done in order to make a good brand, also searching for a good example or inspiration will help us to design the layout and the other aspects.

Finding
This project taught me how to make and design my own brand from sketches to the actual look of a brand. I learned that as a designer, we are the one who makes sure that layout design suits the brand ideals nicely. It is very crucial to print out the mock-up of every stationary or application for any brand before we actually produce in mass amount. Having it printed out would help us to see the actual design and putting us as a reader/consumer would actually help to improve our own design.
