Project I: Decisive Moment

On the fifth week, Mr. Hafiz introduced us for our first project. We were told to search for an urban legend in or out of our country in any language. While we were searching for the story, Mr. Hafiz gave us some explanation about art deco. Thus, we have to make our new project based on the story that we chose with art deco style. After we chose our story, we were told to make a mind map about the story and find the decisive moment of the story.

On the next week, Mr.Hafiz started the class by giving us an exercise which was to trace a chiaroscuro's picture.

After we're done with the exercise, Mr. Hafiz wanted to see our sketch for our next project. We were told to trace our sketch in illustrator. Mr. Hafiz said that my sketch was good, but then I had trouble tracing it on illustrator.

On the next session, Mr. Hafiz explained and shows us examples of animated GIFs and he told us that as design student we have to learn how to animate and not just do a simple drawing or illustrate as generations now are more modern than before. He told us that when it was still around 2009. being able to animate is a very cool thing to do. However, now being able to animate is a requirement. Mr. Hafiz also posted a lot of links to examples of GIFs. He also asked us to try out Adobe Muse for publishing with animated GIFs.

After I showed Mr. Hafiz my work, and I told him about my problem using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, he helped me to rearrange my sketch on Photoshop, and he told me to re-do my work. Then I did my work for the second time and animate it. I had some obstacles when doing this project and making my work to look like an art deco.

Reflection
I was struggled to do this project because I wasn't able to operate Adobe Illustrator well. Also, I didn't have much time to do the work and I felt so unsatisfied. Well, I've learned that I need a lot more practice and do a lot of research to help my knowledge. Moreover, I've learned to manage my time efficiently.
